1. What do you love most about your work?
I'm now retired, but the best thing about the industry is the product - plants and flowers bring joy and happiness to consumers.
2. What would you say to young people considering careers in the sector?
It's a fantastic industry to join with many opportunities in lots of different areas - production, administration, sales, social media, HR etc.
3. What would be your big ask of new Prime Minister Andy Burnham?
Reduce red tape and reduce business taxes if you want to generate growth in the industry.
4. What are the most important challenges the plant production industry needs to overcome in 2026?
Peat replacements are causing major problems in consumer's gardens with poor plant growth, less water retention and often plant death. The industry can grow peat free plants but retailers struggle and consumers fail. This issue has to be urgently addressed by the industry with Government help.
5. What are you most looking forward to at Four Oaks Trade Show this year?
A catch up with friends and colleagues in the industry.
