GroundsFest panel discussion: The Battery Bottom Line: demystifying the financial transition from petrol to battery

Neville Stein and John McGrady

The Battery Bottom Line: demystifying the financial transition from petrol to battery will take place on Wednesday 16 September at 1 - 1.45pm at GroundsFest.

Sponsored by Cramer/Greenworks Commercial.

This session, featuring John McGrady from greenspace maintenance equipment manufacturer and leader in battery-powered equipment, Cramer/Greenworks Commercial, is essential for any operator, local authority, or contractor in the UK looking to understand the true financial implications of moving to a battery-powered fleet.

In the session, Cramer's John McGrady will talk to HortWeek columnist Neville Stein about how operators can make the financial case for battery power.

Many grounds maintenance operators are fully aware of the powerful environmental case for switching from petrol to battery power—lower carbon emissions, reduced noise pollution, and a healthier, safer working environment for operators. However, for business owners and managers, the decision ultimately comes down to the bottom line. The financial case for battery power has often been seen as complex and unclear.

This session cuts through the confusion to provide a plain-English, no-nonsense breakdown of the complete financial picture for the UK grounds maintenance sector.

By demystifying the key financial components of the transition, this session should help you build a robust, evidence-based business case for your own fleet. The discussion will include a discussion on capital outlay and total cost of ownership (TCO), operational savings including energy costs and maintenance.

Business transition

Earlier this month, Green space maintenance equipment manufacturer Cramer announced plans for a  phased transition to trading as Greenworks Commercial in Europe, starting in January 2027.

McGrady will discuss in more detail the changes in products, financial offerings and day-to-day running and benefits that customers can expect during the 18-month transition period.
