Perennial is the UK’s only charity dedicated to helping people in horticulture facing everyday or life-changing challenges. Our expert services support with physical wellbeing, financial support and career development & training.
Working in horticulture isn’t always straightforward. Challenges such as seasonality of work, physical injury, isolated working or risk of financial hardship can arise when you least expect them.
As the charity for the industry, Perennial has a unique understanding of these challenges. A range of free, confidential advice and support services are available, both online and in-person, including a network of caseworkers and debt advisers across the UK, that assist horticulturists and their families when they need it.
The charity raises vital funds to support the delivery and development of these services and runs a select number of gardens across the country, giving employment opportunities to people passionate about developing careers in horticulture.
By offering people the right support at the right time, Perennial helps to build better lives for all those within horticulture – as it has done for over 185 years.

Perennial's range of expert services include:
- Be Health Smart - Information and advice to support with mental health and physical wellbeing, and more focused advice for people worried about their health and needing additional support.
- Be Money Smart - Practical information and financial tools to help your money work harder, or more focused support if you are having trouble getting in control of your finances or experiencing complex financial issues.
- Be Life Smart - tools and support for life's more complex challenges, such as bereavement, needing legal advice, relationship difficulties or juggling caring responsibilities.
- Be Career Smart - Development & training tools to help you achieve your career goals.
Our Confidential Support Services include a Helpline, caseworkers across the UK and specialist services.

Our Helpline is open 9am – 4.30pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, and 10am – 4.30pm on Wednesday. (Excludes bank holidays.)
