To celebrate its 185th anniversary and in conjunction with Four Oaks Trade Show, HortWeek is offering 2 subscriptions to HortWeek, one for each day of the show, for the fastest plant identifiers in horticulture.
And we can now reveal our first Hortle winner!
Congratulations to our pleasingly nominatively determined winner, Tom Tree, sales executive and new product development manager at Darby Nursery Stock!
Tom blew his rivals away with a huge score of 47 and is now the lucky recipient of a HortWeek subscription!
To achieve his winning streak, he identified one plant correctly every 20 seconds on average and had to maintain concentration for a full 15 minutes - an achievement in itself, some might say.
Also deserving of bragging rights is our second-place player, Martha who scored 31 and who is the only player with two scores in the top four (the other being 23) - so top marks for grit and determination to Martha.
The average score for all participants was 11.3 plants identified and reassuringly, no one scored zero.
And to put the leaders achievements into context, only 5 players broke 15; a third of entries scored 3 or under.
The competition is now over but you can still play for fun HERE
