Horticulture Week Podcast: Kernock Park Plants' Bruce Harnett speaks on high demand, exports, peat and shows as the grower celebrates its 40th anniversary

Kernock Park Plants managing director Bruce Harnett reflects on the young plants grower's 40-year history as part of Hortweek's 180th anniversary celebrations.

Harnett remembers his early days at the Cornwall-based independent nursery, right through the unprecedented challenges of managing huge demand amid the multiple complications presente by Brexit and the Covid-19 pandemic.

Orders are well up at Kernock but Brexit logistics/export issues remain - Harnett details how difficult it has been to get exporting restarted and how his nursery has met domestic demand this year.

He explains how Kernock is negotiating peat reduction, the cancellation of trade shows in th UK and overseas, and new plants such as Verbena Margaret's Memory.
