Book review: Wild Harmony

Urban Gardens by Bart Havercamp & Pieter Cries is published by Luster.

Wild

Belgian-based designers Croes and Havercamp have a 20-garden photographic overview of their wild gardens. The ‘green guerillas’ aim to inspire gardeners everywhere to let nature take the lead.

Their signature city gardens let nature take its course. There's dozens of stunning photos, including a few striking shots of trees being craned into place,

The third part of the book holds short descriptions of these projects and useful advice on, for example, how to make your garden heat-resistant.

There are 33 projects in the book, with sustainability, drought resistance, Mediterranean planting, urban/rooftop oases and intuitive designs among the themes. The authors say the familiar project-led format "shows what's possible".

A memorable quote which sums up a memorable book is that the pair's "gardens are not flower arrangements".
